Security seals are used on the doors of containers, trailers or warehouses in order to prevent, limit or avoid attempted break-ins. They are generally numbered to facilitate the verification. These devices are available in 2 types which are distinguished mainly by their material: metal and plastic. Let’s dive-in.
What are the differences between a metal seal and a plastic seal?
The main differences between the 2 types of security seals lie in their usefulness.
Metal seal
The metal seal is designed to withstand attempted theft. Thus, this device makes it possible both to observe break-ins and to protect the goods stored or transported. Cables used in maritime transport, for example, must withstand a force of at least one ton.
Plastic seal
For its part, the plastic seal is much less resistant. This security device essentially makes it possible to detect an attempted break-in, but it does not protect the goods, because it is possible to violate it. It is also available in several colors and sizes depending on the user’s needs.
