A New Year of Innovation!
At Secur-T, we’re kicking off the new year by adding RFID security seals to our catalog. This technology is known for its convenience and security. How does it work? What are its benefits? Let’s find out.
RFID Technology: How Does It Work?
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is one of today’s leading traceability systems. It uses radio frequencies to identify, track and manage goods. It typically consists of 3 components:
- The chip or tag is integrated into the RFID security seal. On one side, it contains a unique code to identify the goods. On the other side, it contains additional information about the goods. An RFID chip can hold up to 4 million characters.
- The RFID reader is the device that reads the data on the chip. It first sends out a radio signal. The chip then picks up the signal and transmits the information. The information can then be read. Depending on the application, the reader can be fixed or portable.
- The data management system receives the information once it has been read. It is then processed and analyzed. This allows tasks such as inventory tracking to be automated.
What are the benefits of RFID tags?
RFID technology allows for bulk reading. In other words, multiple tags can be read at the same time. The process is done remotely. You don’t need to open cardboard, plastic or even wood. The waves can penetrate these materials. The technology also limits human error. Inventory and tracking are more accurate.
In short, here are the benefits of RFID seals:
- Time savings;
- Speed;
- Efficiency;
- Accuracy;
- Ease of use.
