Security seals: The different types and their advantages

Security seals are mechanisms that make it possible to track goods by verifying in particular that they have not been damaged or that their containers have not been damaged, opened or contaminated. There are various types of security seals; here are the most common ones.

Plastic seals‍

Fixed seals have the same characteristics as adjustable seals, but it is impossible to control the length of the link.

‍Used by professionals, but also by individuals, adhesive strips and labels are devices that are sensitive to openings: they tear if handled. Thus, a box or a package closed with a seal such as an adhesive tape or label will not be inviolable, but whoever receives it will know at a glance whether it was opened or not during transport.

‍Metal seals are generally cables or bolts. They have numerous advantages such as safety, versatility and solidity. The aim is to discourage malicious people, they also make it possible to secure the content of the moved element because they are very difficult to destroy or cut. These seals are especially appreciated for ISO 17712:2013 C-TPAT compliance which are required for export by trucks, containers, or trains. All of these seals have different advantages. As a general rule, the more valuable the contents to be protected, the stronger the seal. This applies to physical goods, on the other hand, some seals will simply deter curious or malicious people from opening an envelope or package for example.
